TEACHER DEVELOPMENT: A 'digital immigrant' in Teaching English
I have just joined this online community as a result of a course on online teaching and learning I am taking at the moment. It was in this course that I came to learn what a 'digital immigrant' (as opposed to a 'digital native') actually is. For you , like me, who would like to know more about these two terms, I have copied my course tutor's brief definition below:
'Digital immigrants' was a term that was coigned by Marc Prensky in his seminal article 'Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants' of 2001 (...) to identify the generation (definitely me!) that was not brought up with technology but that has had to learn quickly how to live with technology and its multitude of options for learning, teaching, entertainment, banking, etc. Our students are, on the other hand, 'digital natives' in the digital age.
In the past seven days I have been reflecting a lot about how learning and teaching are changing. This is the main reason why I want to be part of this community. This is another means of communication I want to make more use of. In the next few weeks I will be reading other teachers' reflections on this subject here and, of course, posting my own. Anyway, just a very long way of saying 'Hi!'

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT: Teaching ideas
Dear Colleagues,
Hope you all have had a great time during your holidays. We've all just returned to the daily grind and we are still trying to put our brains and things in order. If you're feeling your ideas for your first classes just won't come, click on the link below for full lesson plans, photocopiable handouts, teaching tips, etc. I highly recommend the section on "Scrivener's Teacher's Tips", with lots of practical ideas on many areas. Not everything is free of charge, though, but never give up. Some of the free stuff can be really good. Enjoy!

SELF-DEVELOPMENT: An inspirational quote
Yesterday is but a
dream,
tomorrow is only a
vision.
But today, well lived, makes
every yesterday a dream of
happiness,
and every tomorrow a vision of
hope.
